CFD-BASED ANALYSIS OF COMPLEX FLOW STRUCTURES IN A CENTRIFUGAL PUMP IMPELLER
Keywords:
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).Abstract
This project investigates the complex internal flow behavior in centrifugal pump impellers using
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Three different impeller configurations were studied by
varying blade angles and rotational speeds. The impeller blade-to-blade plane was modeled and
analyzed using ANSYS Fluent to evaluate velocity and pressure distribution.
The design was based on required discharge and speed. Euler’s pump equation, velocity triangle
analysis, slip factor, and blade blockage were incorporated into the theoretical framework. The
CFD results provided detailed insight into flow deviation, reverse flow regions, and performance
variation at off-design conditions.
